Fomori Female (Front W/ Markings) by codyrush Fomori Female (Front W/ Markings) by codyrush
This is a variation of the front. Another design was drafted but, my old job sucked, so I quit and had to stick a pin in the commission. Hopefully we'll be able to do the back soon.

The design is based on Neolithic motifs in Ireland and Ancient Europe, but these motifs are also seen around the world. I wanted the Fomori to feel like they were timeless and from everywhere. The LAST thing I wanted was for their incisions to feel like modern "tribal" tattoos; because, let's face it, most of those aren't authentic.

do they burn the markings in or cut them?

They're incised as a rite of passage, typically for royalty. They're not arcane, though. They're just a thoughtful aboriginal aesthetic that represents self mastery and status.

They're called "sea giants" because their ancestors were deep sea elementals that bred with human serfs and slaves.

It's just nice to unload this image I've had in my head for years. The back is even better, but, I can't afford to do it yet.

What did you think of the hair? I was going for more of an anime-kabuki sort of feel.

I really love how the dark skin makes her hair and eyes pop.

Even without the hair she looks anime, the long legs, thin waist and big eyes. But I still prefer the earlier version: fav.me/d8qe033

Yeah, but...those are kind of all universally attractive qualities; and these sidhe interbreed with humans in this continuity. That early version is just too fishy to be plausible.

The female Fomori are more feline, with reptilian elements; like their transparent needle-like teeth, bifurcated tongue and the barb on their tails. Much more subtle than the males, which are more inspired by lions and apes.
